WWI Censor CM 6
Afternoon Team
As part of my study of WWI censorship going beyond Frank Daniel etc, I'm attempting to put together a collection of scans covering CM 6 which was used on the Western Front and Italy. It was also used after the Armistice until censorship ceased, After 15 February 1919 units involved in the security swaps received their original datestamps back. This aids identifing who was using CM 6 which appears to have been a very scatter gun approach to issuing these marks. I'm looking for scans of any material friends may have. Of special interest is post November 1918, any Allied mail, Canadian, USA using British cancels and censors, Australian, New Zealand and South Africa, basically anything, The series runs to 7000 plus so there's a lot out there. Any help appreciated.
Plus if anyone wishes to join this study, as a long term project I'd building files with scans of CM 1 to CM 8, probably 30,000 scans in total. This is a project which should have been started years ago, many big collections have been broken up before recording but with the internet it's possible to find many examples. When one studies FD on what he worked on there are many gaps.
