Lets awaken the WWII Brigade,

As the title says this addresses use of WWI Censor marks in WWII, CM 3

The cover shows use of CM 3 / 4521, FD recorded use of CM 3 up to 4542, but with incomplete records in this range, I record above 4500 used in Salonika, (still records to check.) Currently no record of 4521 in WWI.

This raises the question, was it part of a block sent out to Salonika or retained in London, An earlier post showed GRO records, where instructions were given for the censor handstamp number was to be destroyed in theatre. (CM 4) So was that aplicable for CM 3, If sent out looks like the stamps were sent back to London and stored. In that case others may exist for WWII.

1 A Censor No was used,

2 Which FPO or APO was using it.

Two boxes ticked, yes I cannot see where it was going or who censored it but it's a start, certainly when we come to CM 5 & CM 6 where very little records exist. Interesting to se the wide range of censors from one office FPO 6, but of course a FPO at Brigade level such as this is served 4 Battalions, plus other smaller units, Once we progress into the security swaps the tally grows.

CM 3 is recorded used in Malta for Civil Censorship, two groups were allocated.

This post looks at the group, 4160 to 4182 The publication 'Malta at War' I've referred to in earlier posts give dates for all the range,

However as always I'm building a lasting record file of confirmed evidence.

I'm looking for scans of the following, 4160 - 61 - 63 - 64 - 68 - 71 - 79 - 80 - 81. I have clear records of the others in the series. Can anyone help?
